Cheryl Tarrant

cheryl.jpgCheryl is currently a fine art texture designer as well as co-creator of the Distressed FX iPhone photo-editing app. A city girl gone country currently residing in the hills of East Tennessee with 2 peacocks, 9 cats, and 15+ chickens. "I don’t have to drive too far to be inspired as we live in a little valley with scenic views of cows, barns, and meadows. I can drive for hours looking to be inspired and then I come home and think, “Oh here it is, where it has been all along.”

"A majority of my artwork is inspired by child hood memories of my Grandfather’s ranch in the sprawling hills of Trabuco Canyon in Southern California. I have always found solace in old barns, and the magic that one can find in them. Old bird nests, cobwebs, and old crinkly snake skins. The same holds true for abandoned houses. I am drawn to the chipped paint side boards, dusty photographs strewn about, and the light that seems to find it’s way in to highlight that which has long been forgotten."

When someone looks at one of my images I want them to wonder, “Is it a painting? Or a photograph?” Bordering on fantasy and reality is a common theme. Skies are big part of my images. I am inspired by simpler times, loss, birds, and whimsy.

Cheryl is also a paper painting artist, watercolor and a mixed media artist. She is currently studying oil painting and will be adding to her offerings soon.
