Shawn Slate

Shawn Slate is a pastor and painter living and loving Knoxville, TN. Shawn began painting as an act of repentance. After growing up as a jock with little regard for the arts, he began to long for new ways to express himself and see the world. Painting became a new outlet for communicating his love for people and places. Shawn loves to paint people because he loves the practice of looking long and hard into the faces of those he paints in order to learn more about another human being. He loves places, because places are the context for our growth and where we express ourselves as agents of care for the world.
