Ben Whitehead

ben-whitehead-bio-pic-dsf5190-ret.jpgI am married and the father of three beautiful children. They are my greatest works of art, but I've been creating art as long as I can remember. While in the first grade I received "best artist award" for a pencil drawing of a bicycle. Fast forward 20 years and I found another outlet for my creativity -- music. My best friend and I formed Cutthroat Shamrock in 2003. For many years I enjoyed designing t-shirts, concert posters, and album art.

After leaving the band, I served 7 years as a worship leader/youth pastor for a local church's youth program. This opened the door for me to become involved in foreign missions. Over the past few years I have traveled to the islands of Uganda multiple times. January 2018, when I arrived home from Africa, God woke something up inside me. I began painting again. Since then, I have painted over a dozen canvases, many of them inspired by my adventures in Africa.

I currently serve as Pastor of Pub Church Knox which meets in Market Square's Scruffy City Hall. The church meets once a month and ministers to people who might feel more comfortable in a pub than in a pew. I plan to continue painting what brings me joy: memories from future mission trips, sermon illustrations, and our beautiful countryside.
